WUKARI INTER SCHOOL CULTURAL DANCE AND DRAMA COMPETITION
WE AFRICA CREATE PROJECT.
It was a wonderful and beautiful sight to behold from various school students and pupils giggling and
whispering ear to ear. The joy to participate and win, the excitement of showcasing their talent and
displaying their cultures on 25 th May, 2024 at Sweet April Event Centre Wukari was a call for the
reawakening of African Culture and Tradition.
The stage itself depicted the African Culture the various Characteristics that can be seen in the old
African society, this stage captured and enticed many spectators and passer-by.
The interschool competition consisted of Thirteen (13) School in all, both from Secondary and
Primary school categories. Below is the breakdown of the result;
In primary school category, awards were given to some pupils who performed exceptionally, these
pupils include: Best Drummer from Central Primary School and the Best Singer Rukaiyya Abubakar
from Marmara Primary School.
Central Primary School went home with the trophy from the combined result in both drama and
dance with a cumulative points of 678, followed by Marmara Primary School with 657 points,
Female Model were in third place with 544 points and finally St. Mary Primary School had the total
points of 532.
On the other hand, the secondary school who participated raised the hopes of the spectators with
beautiful dances which can displayed on National TV and Programs, these to a greater extend
explained the need for the reawakening of our culture. Awards were given to the Best Actress was
Stephanie Stephen from Government Secondary School and the Best Dancer was Wuaiyolona
Hembadoom Promise from Government Day Secondary School Wukari. The Best Actor Comedy was
Abdulrazzak Adamu Chiroma from Marmara Secondary School. Government Day Secondary
School Wukari. went home with the trophy with 649 points. Marmara Secondary School emerged
second with 581 points while Government Secondary School Wukari was in the third place with 561
points.
Conclusively, other personalities who contributed to the wealth and heritage in culture and tradition
were honoured with award; Mrs. Asabe Aditsokwa a blind singing sensation. Mr. Manasseh
Zachariah Ikyabo a multi talented artist credited with the designing the Jukun traditional attire. The
Supreme Ruler of the Kwararrafa Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Dr. Ishaku Adda Ali Matakhitswen.
